Lakes. Fishing. Located on the Canadian border (New Brunswick).
- Flagstaff
Lake. Fishing, Hiking, Campsites without electricity, Drinking Water,
Restrooms, Launch Ramps. Northwest side of lake features the Cathedral Pines.
Hiking is available on the Bigelow Trail starting from Stratton up to the
top of Bigelow Mountain (4156 ft.) and back down. Accessible from Stratton
on State Route 16.
- Grand Lake.
Fishing. On the Canadian border. Accessible near Weston, south on U.S.
1.
- Grand Falls
Lake / Big Lake. Fishing. Northern shoreline of Grandfalls along the state's
Indian Reservation. Accessible from U.S. 1 north of Princeton.
- Grand Lake
Matagamon. Fishing. This scenic lake is located in the northeast end of
Baxter State Park (also home of Maine's Highest Point Mt. Katadin at 5268
ft).
- Long Lake.
Fishing. Located southeast from St. Agatha in northern Maine.
- Moosehead
Lake. Fishing, Campsites with and without electricity, Drinking Water,
Restrooms. Launch Ramps. Lily Bay State Park is on the Eastern Shoreline.
Squaw Mountain is also a point of interest. Popular Islands include Farm,
Moose, Sugar, and Deer Island. One of the largest inland lakes in Maine. Off
Maine State Route 6/15 in Greenville.
- Mooselookmeguntic
Lake / Lower Richardson Lake / Cupsuptic Lake. Fishing, Campsites without
electricity, Drinking Water, Restrooms. Very Scenic Area near Beaver and Bemis
Mountains. Hiking is available on the National Scenic Trail. Dam splits Mooselookmeguntic
and Lower Richardson. Near the Maine / New Hampshire Border off Maine State
Route 16.
- Pemadumcook
Lake. Fishing. Camping without electric hookup. Along Appalachian National
Scenic Trail. Runs into North Twin Lake and Quakish Lake. Accessible from
State Park in Norcross off Maine State Route 11.
- Rangeley
Lake. Fishing, Campsites without electricity, Drinking Water, Restrooms,
Launch Ramps. Home of Rangeley Lake State Park. Two ski areas for winter skiing
are nearby. Also accessible off Maine State Route 16 and 17 at Oquossoc.
- Sebago Lake.
Fishing, Campsites with and without Electric Hookup, Drinking Water, Restrooms,
Pumping Station, Launch Ramps. Sebago State Park is on the northern shoreline.
Accessible from Raymond Maine on U.S. 302 or Sebago Lake and East Sebago on
Maine State Route 114.
North
Woods Area.
There
are many Private Roads throughout Northern Maine. There are also many primitive
recreational facilities. Here are a list of some of the larger good fishing
lakes accessible by Canoe or small boat. For more information on using this

Here
are a few of the large lakes (there are countless smaller).
- Chesuncook
Lake / Black Pond / Caucomgomoc Lake. Just East of Baxtor State Park at
Ripogenus Dam and stretches nearly 50 miles to the northwest.
- Churchill
Lake / Eagle Lake / Telos Lake. Telos Lake is accessible via private road
just west of Baxtor Park and extends nearly 60 miles north to Churchill Lake.
There are 11 recreational areas along these connected lakes.
- Seboomook
Lake. Accessible near Pitston Farm via Private Road.
