The Amistad National Recreational Area is along the northern shoreline. This
30 mile wide lake is located on the Mexican border 10 miles northwest of Del
Rio / Ciudad Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico.
- Aquilla

and Hackberry Creeks. Located 11 miles southwest of Hillsboro 6 miles west

- Lake Arrowhead.

is located near the northern shoreline. Just 13 miles southeast of Wichita
Falls, Texas off U.S. 287.
- Bafflin
Bay. Fishing. Located southeast of Kingsville, Texas. This bay leads to
the Padre Island area. The Gulf is accessible by running north and out of
at Aransas Pass just north of Corpus Christi.
- Bardwell

- Belton Lake.

- Benbrook

- Lake Brownwood.

Lake Brownwood State Park is located on the western shoreline. Located 8 miles
north of Brownwood Texas off Texas State Route 279.
- Caddo Lake.

Caddo Lake State Park lies along the western section. Located 10 miles north
of Shreveport, Louisiana on the Texas border.
- Canyon Lake.

- Cedar Creek
Reservoir. Fishing. This 20 mile long lake is located just outside of Malakoff,
Texas at Texas State Route 31 and FM 90.
- Clear Lake.
Fishing, Sailing, Marinas, Fuel, Launch Ramps (Small fee may apply). Another
good lake for boating, skiing, sailing, Sea Dooing, and sailing is called
Clear Lake. It is just south of Houston, Texas near the Johnson Space Center.
The lake leads out into the Galveston bay. There are clubs, marinas, and many
places to eat right on the side of the lake. Most of the clubs and stuff have
areas where you can dock your boat and go inside. There are a lot of fast
power boats there and the wind is usually great for sailing. -David Byrd (Thanks
for your input!). This 3.5 miles wide lake is located in Clear Lake Shores
Texas off I 45 and the Nassau Bay Exit.
- Lake Coleman.

In the Sam Houston National Forest this lake is near Stubblefield Recreational

- Cooper Lake.

- Copano Bay.

A marine laboratory and aquarium lies to the east near the causeway, San Antonio
Bay lies to the northeast. Located off Texas State Route 35 just north of
Fulton (all north of Corpus Christi).
- Lake Corpus

Upstream from Nuecus Bay near Mathis.
- Cypress
Springs Lake. Fishing. Located 9 miles southeast of Mt. Vernon, Texas
off FM 21.
- Denison
Dam / Lake Texoma. Fishing, Campsites with and without electric hookup,

A popular U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake. Popular sites include Old Fort
Washita (maintained as a museum by the Oklahoma Historical Society). (918)

- Eagle Mountain
Lake. Beach, Swimming, Launch Ramps (small fee may apply), Restrooms,
Drinking Water, Picnic/Day Use. This lake is about 9.5 miles long by about
2.5 miles wide at one point. A popular water sports lake with the Ft. Worth
area. Located just a few miles northwest of Ft. Worth off the Jacksboro Highway
(Texas State Route 199).
- Falcon Lake.

This scenic Lake lies on the U.S. / Mexican Border and runs about 35 miles
northwest- southeast. Falcon State Park lies on the southeastern point on
the U.S. side. Located near Falcon off U.S. 83.
- Lake Georgetown.

Russell Park. This lake impounds the San Gabriel river in the hill country

- Lake Granbury.

fee may apply), Marina, Fuel. This lake is a wide part of the Brazos River
that runs through Granbury. Its wider parts of the river are about 15 miles
long and recreation includes golf, camping at Camp Leonard and El Tesoro.
The average depth is about 30 feet. Located about 30 miles southwest of Ft.
Worth off highway 377.
- Granger

- Grapevine

- Lake Houston.

- Hubbard
Creek Lake. Fishing. Campsites are located off U.S. 183 about 10 miles
northwest of Breckenridge, Texas.
- Joe Pool
Lake. 7470 Acres. Fishing, Campsites with and without electric hookup,

- Lake Kemp
/ Diversion Lake / Lake Kickapoo. Fishing. These lakes are located southwest
of Wichita Falls, Texas, off U.S. 183 / 283 30 miles south of Vernon, Texas
/ north and south of U.S. 82 /277 near Dundee (respectively).
- Lake Livingston.

Home of Lake Livingston State Park (near the southeastern shoreline). Just
a 10 minute drive east of Livingston on U.S. 190.
- Lake O'

of Onalaska, Texas.

- Lake Meredith.

- Navarro

- Pat Mayse

Part of the Brazos River. Possum Kingdom State Park lies on the southwestern
fork. Located 34 miles west of Mineral Wells, Texas off Texas State Route
16 (follow signs from U.S. 180).
- Proctor

Four recreational areas are located around the lake. Located 10 miles south
of Dublin, Texas off U.S. 67 / 377.
- Ray Roberts

the Elm Fork, of the Trinity River in Cooke, Denton and Grayson Counties.

- Sam Rayburn
Reservoir. 114,000 Acres. Fishing, Campsites with and without electric

Center. Sam Rayburn is a very diverse lake. on the Angelina County side,
accessible from Lufkin, is flooded timberland, a prime fishing spot for bass
and crappie, the Jasper County end has very few obstructions, large areas
of open water, suitable for fishing, water skiing, jet skiing & sailing.
There are several marinas that have fuel docks, motel rooms, log cabins, camp
grounds with hook-ups, bait, groceries, tackle & one "boat up" restaurant.
In the Big Thicket country of Texas. Recreational areas include Harvey Creek,
Sandy Creek, Caney Creek, Jackson Hills and Powell. Surrounded by the Angelina
National Forest. About 15 miles northeast of Jasper, Texas, follow signs from

- Somerville

- Spence Reservoir.

- Stillhouse

- Lake Tawakoni.

Fuel. Home of Anchor In Marina. The lake is located 35 miles east of Dallas
off Texas State Route 34.
- Lake Texoma
(Denison Dam). Fishing, Campsites with and without electric hookup, Showers,

Fuel, Launch Ramp (small fee may apply), Visitors Information Center. The
seconds most popular US. Army Corps of Engineers lake in the country (after
Lake Sidney Lanier in Georgia). Historical Fort Washita is located nearby.
This huge lake has many recreational sites including Little Glasses, Lakeside,
Brian Creek, as well as Texoma State Park. Located off Texas State Route 75A
5 miles northwest of Dennison, Texas. 75A or 6 miles west of Durant, Oklahoma

- Lake J.B.
Thomas. Fishing. Located about 20 miles southwest of Snyder, Texas Off
Texas State Route 350.
- Toledo Bend
Reservoir. 70 miles long. Fishing, Campsites with and without electric
hookup, Showers, Restrooms, Drinking Water, Sanitary Dump Station, Picnic/Day
Use, Launch Ramp (small fee may apply), Located on the Sabine River. Recreational
areas include Boles Field, Red Hills Lake, Indian Mounds and Willow Oak (all
on the Texas side). Accessible and crossed by Texas State Route 21 and Louisiana
State Route 6.

- Town Bluff

- Twin Buttes

- Waco Lake.

- White River

- Whitney

- Wright Patman

Texas is a scenic visit via small craft. A dam divides Lake Travis and Lake
Austin.
